Restoring the park surrounding Villa Lucero’s main house

30 October 2023

Our team has dedicated time in the past two months to restoring the park surrounding our beautiful main house at Villa Lucero.

We decided to renovate the park after we had to bring down a large group of beautiful, tall, ancient palm trees framing the house after they were decimated by the South American palm borer (Paysandisia archon), a moth belonging to the family of Castniidae.

The intervention carried out by our team, with the help of a contractor, focused on planting trees around the main house to create pleasant surroundings for its inhabitants, around the livestock facilities to provide shade to cattle and farm workers, and along the access roads.

In total, we planted 457 saplings of poplar trees (e.g., Carolina, Pyramidal, and Silver Poplar), fruit trees (e.g., Apple, Cherry, Fig, Lemon, Mandarin, Orange, Peach, Pear, Plum, Pomelo, and Quince), Eucalyptus trees, Oak trees, and a variety of ornamental trees (e.g., Jacaranda, Juniper, Pine, and Willow), as well as plants and shrubs.

The time, effort, and money invested in this endeavour will have a minimal impact on the bottom line of our operation. Besides making the house's surroundings more agreeable to residents and visitors alike, it will make the property much more appealing, help develop its tourist potential and, ultimately, increase its long-term value.
